Max Samuels recently wrapped shooting DOOM SCROLL, a horror-comedy from K180 Studios, alongside an ensemble that includes Jason Alexander, Josh Radnor, and Betsy Brandt. Max plays a teenage villain in K180's first film THE FLOATERS, a Jackie Tohn-led Jewish summer camp comedy, available on Apple Nov 10. He is also the voice of WWII signal corps photographer Walter Rosenblum in Daedalus Productions’ documentary THEY FIGHT WITH CAMERAS (Winner of 15 Best Documentary honors), narrated by Liev Schreiber, distributed by Espresso Media International.
Samuels’ additional screen credits include Amazon’s THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL and Netflix’s UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT; he was a part of the “phantom cast” of Andrew Bujalski’s experimental film THERE THERE (Official Selection: Tribeca); and he produced the mob parody short film CORONATION DAY (Official Selection: Green Mountain Film Festival & Made Here Film Festival), in which he stars alongside stage & screen veteran Josh Mostel. He is also on the team developing an UNTITLED JEWISH GANGSTERS TV PROJECT.
New York stage work includes the world premiere of Allie Avital and Alia Azamat Ashkenazi’s THE NAKED WOMAN and the NYC premiere of New American Ensemble’s production of THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV. Other NY stage appearances include HERE Arts Center, Urban Stages, and The Tank. Regional: Guild Hall, Portland Stage, Northern Stage, and the New London Barn. Outside of full productions, he has participated in developmental workshops with Disney Theatrical, New Victory Labworks, and New York Theatre Workshop, among others.
Born in New York City and raised in Connecticut, Samuels graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dartmouth College, where he studied Chinese and Theater, and received his Master’s with Distinction from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He is a member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA and lives in New York City.
